16 confirmed for 2014 Inter Dominion

A total of 16 trotters have been confirmed for the 2014 TAB.com.au Inter Dominion Grand Final (3009m) at Menangle on Sunday, March 2nd.

Monday’s barrier draw for the feature event, which will figure as one of seven Group 1 races scheduled on the same card, has featured as a huge talking point amongst the industry after several frontrunners were allocated particularly favourable starting positions.

Trainer Shane Tritton, who will saddle current $21 chance Mach Beauty, told Harness Racing New South Wales the standard protocol will be adhered to on Sunday despite the favourites’ keen position from the outset.

“At the end of the day, we will be looking to lead with Mach Beauty, barrier 6 is the perfect draw for him” Tritton said.

“I can’t think of too many races where he hasn’t led; he didn’t lead in the Miracle Mile but the mobile barrier may have run a bit quicker that night and the harder they go, the more he like it.”

Western Australia-based Seel N Print has received huge attention from punters since markets opened earlier this week, who snapped up an early price of $75 to currently instil a quote of $41.

Having been fitted for hoof pads following seven races without a result, Seel N Print is currently on a three race winning spree at Menangle and now figuring as a legitimate contender for 2014 Inter Dominion glory.

“Todd (McCarthy, trainer) suspected Seel N Print may not be showing his best on the firm track at Menangle” Managing owner Greg Bond told the West Australian recently.

“He fitted pads, which cost on $10 to $15, under his shoes and there’s been a remarkable transformation.

“His owners can hardly believe he suddenly became an Inters contender.”

Beautide is currently featured as $4 favourite for the 2014 Inter Dominion crown at Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Mark Purdon-driven Smolda ($4.40), Gary Hall Snr-trained I’m Victorious ($7.50) and For A Reason ($8).
