Cranbourne-trained Mondo Rocket has taken impressive race record to a total of 20 wins with another victory at Yarra Valley on Monday.
Mondo Rocket, who is renowned for his tiny stature, is trained by owner-breeder Brian Duthie.
Duthie was at the track to watch Mondo Rocket continue his harness success and was over the moon with the result.
The trainer attributes the world class training facilities at the Cranbourne Training Complex, which opened on September 26, 2012, with Mondo Rocket’s success.
“He’s such a lightly framed little horse that I decided to restrict his work on the track and instead rely on regular strengthening sessions on the complex’s treadmill,” Duthie said.
“I knew a month ago that he was starting to improve and his recent form showed that.”
In other harness news, reinsman Chris Alford has continued his winning ways at Yarra Valley this week.
Alford won the Lilydale Instant Lawn Trotters Handicap with Maidstone Miss.
Maidstone Miss’ owner, Jayne Davies, has long relied on Alford to guide her horses to the winner’s circle.
Alford opted to lead early with the mare, with the tactic proving successful when none of the other horses could run her down in the closing stages of the race.
Maidstone Miss won the race by 24.1 metres ahead of race favourite El Paco, who placed second, and My Name Is Earl, who finished third.
