This Friday Queensland’s Gold Coast Harness Club will host one of their biggest nights of pacing with four terrific Group 3 features set to light up the track.
Two $35, 000 finals of the 3YO QBred Breeders Classic will take place, one for Fillies and another for Colts & Geldings.
Following this, two $30, 000 finals for the 4YO QBred Breeders Classic divided into Entires & Geldings and then Mares will run.
In the Fillies 3YO QBred Breeders Classic final a number of the fancied runners have drawn wide opening the race right up.
Last start winners from the heats Watch Margie Power and Abbey Tiara have drawn barriers 10 and 11 respectively and will have to find the front early to feature here.
Also lining up in the back row are Ark De Jeanne and Sheza Machstar who ran second and third to Watch Margie Power in heat one last week.
Torque In Motion, runner-up to Abbey Tiara in the second qualifier, has fared better with the draw and will start from barrier two. The lightly raced filly is having just her fourth race start and is looking for her second career win.
The Colts & Geldings 3YO Qbred Breeders Classic final will be another hotly contested affair with a field of promising youngsters lining up.
The Leigh Smart trained and driven Bay Of Eagles maintained their unbeaten record last week when they won the first qualifier ahead of the favourite Major Bronski.
Bay Of Eagles has drawn well for the final with barrier four while Major Bronski, due to be driven by Luke McCarthy, did not fare so well and will jump from 11.
The other heat winner from last week, Peter Greig’s Mach Dreamy has drawn in the front row with barrier five. The consistent Mach Three gelding is aiming at their third successive victory.
The Entires & Geldings 4YO Qbred Breeders Classic final also has a number of the favourites drawn ideally.
Leading Queensland trainer Bill Dixon may come away with a Group race quinella in the Entires & Geldings Final
Last week trainer Bill Dixon took out both heats with his runners Makin Dough and Elzar and with his talented geldings drawing barriers three and two respectively for Friday, Dixon may even come away with a Group race quinella here.
The Mares 4YO Qbred Breeders Classic final is the last of the Group harness races for the Gold Coast on Friday night.
Bill Dixon will also be represented in the Mares final, aiming for double Group race success at the meeting with his classy Fake Left mare Making Magic.
Making Magic, a heat winner from last week, will be driven by the inform Natalie Rasmussen and has drawn ideally with the prized barrier one.
The other winner from the qualifiers was Detrimental in a race that saw the hot favourite Empty Promises finish dead last.
Detrimental will jump from barrier three on Friday night, with the mare he beat in the heats, Ark Monroe, drawn beside them in four. Ark Monroe is also prepared by premier Queensland trainer Dixon.
